FDOT State Road (SR) SR A1A/Collins Avenue from 26 Street to 44 Street Project Update

ONGOING CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES 

  • Please note the City of Miami Beach is replacing the water main along 41 Street between Pine Tree Drive and Collins Avenue, which is unrelated to the Collins Avenue from 26 Street to 44 Street Roadway Project.
  • To mitigate traffic along Collins Avenue, no additional lane closures will take place within the FDOT Collins Avenue Roadway project limits. The established work zones along Collins Avenue will remain in place and work will take place behind barrier wall. The work zone locations are as follows:
    • Along the east side of the intersection at Collins Avenue and 27 Street
    • Along the east side of the intersection at Collins Avenue and 30 Street
    • Along the east side of the intersection at Collins Avenue and 41 Street
    • Along the west side of the intersection at Collins Avenue and 29 Street

Temporary Traffic Pattern Changes
  • 41 Street westbound between Pine Tree Drive and Indian Creek Drive will be reduced to one lane.
  • 41 Street from Indian Creek Drive to the east street end (Beachwalk) will be closed to all traffic.
  • Collins Avenue at 41 Street intersection will be closed to all traffic. See posted detour signs.
  • Indian Creek Drive from 40 to 41 Streets will be reduced to one lane northbound and one lane southbound.
  • Indian Creek Drive southbound from 41 to 44 Streets will be reduced to two lanes: one right turn only lane and one straight lane.
Timeline
This project is expected to conclude in September 2024. Work hours are Monday–Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Due to the nature of this operation and heavy machinery, a 24-hour lane closure will be in effect.
Please note that pull back operations are continuous and may occur outside of the stated working hours to ensure timely completion of the project.
Please know that this schedule may change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
What to Expect
  • Commuters to and from Miami Beach will face delays on 41 Street due to lane closures. Please plan accordingly and seek an alternate route, when possible.
  • There may be construction noise due to equipment.
  • There may be moderate noise impacts outside of normal working hours, including overnight periods, due to ongoing operations.
  • There may be moderate noise impacts outside of normal working hours.
  • A staging area will be set up within the closed lane.
  • Emergency vehicles will always have access.
  • There will be increased off-duty police presence during construction hours.
