University of Miami Brings a Night of Jazz to Sunny Isles Beach
By Sylvia Flores, Assistant Director Cultural and Human Services
On Wednesday, January 20th, residents and guests of Sunny Isles Beach enjoyed an evening of music performed by the University of Miami, Frost School of Music Studio Jazz Band. The group performed a variety of music, including Count Basie standards and Sinatra favorites. With almost 20 musicians performing, the auditorium at the Sunny Isles Beach Community School was filled with notes flying across the room.
This event was the second installment of the City’s Four Seasons Cultural Series, a new series bringing a special event four times a year, to help make classical arts accessible for all ages in our community. The next installment, presented in partnership with the Florida International University Biscayne Bay Campus, will be “An Evening of Russian Opera” with the Singers of the Lyric Orchestra, scheduled for March 10th, 2010. Tickets are available for Sunny Isles Beach residents at a discounted rate of $10. Visit us at Pelican Community Park or Sunny Isles Beach Government Center to purchase your tickets now.
