Life In The City

By Bari Auerbach

‘The Best is Yet to Come’

Now that fall is upon us and stores have already started displaying their Halloween and Thanksgiving items, it’s time to start looking forward to a new season of activities and events in Sunny isles Beach…

Sunny Serenade Concerts: Samson Oceanfront Park is the venue for a culturally enriching series of concerts featuring diverse entertainers – but wouldn’t it be great if the city had enough revenue reserves to book really famous names?

In lieu of spending a fortune on performers, a cost efficient idea would be hiring the “Fiddler on the Roof” starring in the play coming soon to the Broward Center…Then he could hop from condo roof-top to roof-top playing the song that embodies the spirit of rapid growth and progress in Sunny Isles Beach: Sunrise Sunset.

More Green Space: Now that even more parks are going to be enhancing Sunny Isles Beach with open green space, just think about all the excuses for not getting fresh air and exercise you’ll have to give up!

Heritage Park, coming soon to the north end of the city, will feature an exercise trail, basketball court, two tot lots, and a dog park plus a 500-space parking garage - but if you really like being a couch potato, you still have time to relax until the new park opens at the end of 2010.

October Fests: Two really big events coming to Sunny Isles Beach in October include the city’s 2nd annual Jazz Fest and the Booogie by the Beach Halloween celebration. Wouldn’t it be a fun idea to combine the two events? Then at the Jazz Fest, instead of Count Basie - Count Dracula could perform; and as a special surprise, this year’s featured performers, the Neville Brothers, could dress up as the Jonas Brothers and sign autographs for all the kids at the Sunny Isles Beach Community School!

Holiday Spirit: Before we know it the holidays will be here and it will be time to start thinking about what you want to give - and receive. But with all the fun and exciting things going on in the city, you might just decide you already have the greatest gift: Calling Sunny Isles Beach home (or a home away from home).
