“Each Commissioner and the Mayor shall be elected at-large for four year terms by the electors of the City in the manner provided in Article 5 of this Charter.” [Municipal Charter § 2.3(a)]
A City General Election will be held Tuesday, November 10, 2009, and the following seats will be up for election at that time. And if necessary, a runoff election will occur on Tuesday, December 8, 2009:
- Mayor (incumbent: Norman S. Edelcup)
- Residential Area Commissioner – Seat 2, Central Area* (incumbent: Gerry Goodman)
- Residential Area Commissioner – Seat 4, At-large Commissioner (incumbent: Roslyn Brezin)
Official Candidate Qualifying with the City Clerk will occur:
From 9:00 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2009, until 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2009

A City General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, and if necessary, a run-off election will occur on Tuesday, December 13, 2011.
The following seats will be up for election at that time:
- Residential Area Commissioner – Seat 01, Northern Area* (incumbent: Lewis J. Thaler)
- Residential Area Commissioner – Seat 03, Southern Area* (incumbent: George “Bud” Scholl)
* “Persons running from a particular Residential Area must be a resident of the Residential Area which s/he proposes to represent on the Commission at the time of qualifying, at the time of his/her election and must continue to reside in such Residential Area during his/her term of office.” [Municipal Charter §2.3(b)]
“Only electors of the City who have resided continuously in the City for at least one year preceding the date of such filing (and in the respective Residential Area from which the candidate may seek to qualify for election) shall be eligible to hold the office of Commissioner, including Mayor.” [Municipal Charter §2.4]
